Jelena Jankovic is the 7th-seed in the draw of next week's Mutua Madrilena Open in Madrid, she is in the same half of the draw as the world number 1 Serena Williams, but there is something even more interesting.

As the 7th-seed at 3,5 million euros worth tournament Jelena received first round bye, but is projected to face with compatriot Ana Ivanovic in the second round. Ana shouldn't have been in the main draw after all, but she was lucky and received a wildcard. More interesting is that Ana Ivanovic is the only wildcard player in the whole draw to receive a first round bye, so it means that Ana is the only unseeded player in the second round without playing a match previously ... hm, what a coincidence, isn't that interesting? If Jelena passes the first obstacle, she could meet with Bartoli, Pennetta, Safina, Dementieva, Sharapova, Petrova, Henin or Williams later in the tournament.
